Aged care building award
A new facility in Goulburn has taken out the excellence in aged care award from MBA NSW.
Grindley Construction has been recognised at the Master Builders Association of NSW’s 2008 Excellence in Housing Awards for its work on a Warrigal Care facility in Goulburn.
The $16 million facility provides homely accommodation and care services to 120 of the region’s oldest people.
It features extensive use of carpets and wood grain floors along with designer furniture and artworks enhance the large single and couple rooms, sitting rooms and themed courtyards.
The home also includes a reception lobby, hairdresser, café and therapy room.
“We are delighted that our business partner Grindley Construction won this prestigious award for their fantastic work at our brand new Goulburn aged care home,” said Warrigal Care’s Executive Property Manager, Peter Hutchinson.
“They have worked very closely with our architects, Hodges & Shorten, to physically achieve Warrigal Care’s vision of providing excellence in service to older people and their professionalism deserves the acclaim” he added.
Warrigal Care’s CEO, Mark Sewell said the shape and feel of nursing homes is changing.
“We have challenged the old institutionalised notion of nursing homes by enriching our residents’ everyday lives with better living environments that look and feel like a home, both in its physical design and the relationships it nurtures,” he said.
