Awards seek innovative palliative care leaders
The biennial Palliative Care Australia awards are now open for 2025 nominations in eight categories.
People can put forward names of individuals they believe embody excellence, innovation and leadership in Australia’s palliative care sector, with the National Palliative Care Awards now open for nominations.
The awards – presented in partnership with home care provider Silverchain – are held every two years and bring attention to individuals, teams and organisations that have gone above and beyond in providing compassionate care and support to people at the end of life.
“These awards are an important opportunity to recognise the dedicated people working every day to ensure Australians receive high-quality, compassionate palliative care,” said Palliative Care Australia chief executive officer Camilla Rowland.
The winners will be announced during the Oceanic Palliative Care Conference Gala Dinner on 11 September 2025.
Award categories for 2025 include:
- emerging leader
- emerging researcher
- outstanding work by a team in delivering palliative care
- innovation in palliative care
- outstanding achievement in volunteering
- outstanding achievement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander palliative care
- outstanding achievement by an individual in palliative care
- lifetime achievement award.
Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland and Limestone Medical Centre partner Dr Geoffrey Mitchell was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.
The conference is the premier event for the sector.
