MiCare win 2 awards
The MiCare team has won two awards in recognition of their dedicated work for multicultural communities and migrants.
Victorian aged care provider MiCare has been honoured twice at the Victorian Multicultural Commission Excellence Awards in Melbourne.
Jacqueline Aungminn from the cultural advisor migrant services team received the Refugee Achievement Award for dedication and outstanding contribution to empowering multicultural communities through education, support and community-building initiatives.
Ms Aungminn has worked tirelessly to elevate opportunities for marginalised groups in Australia, both through her role at MiCare and through volunteer work.
“We are very proud of Jacqueline’s achievements and we congratulate her on receiving this truly well-deserved recognition,” MiCare chief executive officer Penni Michael said.
The team was also presented with a Highly Commended Award from the Victorian Multicultural Commission in recognition of their MiStaff initiative that aims to provide new migrants coming into Australia with meaningful skills and connections.
The initiative was incorporated across all its programs and services to provide training, placing and secured employment for marginalised migrants who are excluded from the work force.
MiStaff recruited 61 trainees from its community networks and secured employment for 54, as personal care workers, gardeners or cleaners within its first year of operation.

Deputy chair of MiCare Richard Mendelsohn said that recieving the award was a great achievement for the team.
“The award acknowledges the extensive work and support provided to our trainees from a number of key staff within MiCare,” Mr Mendelsohn said.
“This program demonstrates what can be achieved with exceptional commitment and dedication.”
