A Queensland-based not-for-profit provider has taken out a bronze medal at the prestigious SAI Global Australian Business Excellence Awards.

RSL Care was recognised for sustainable excellence after being assessed against seven business excellence framework categories, including customer and market focus and process innovation and improvement.

The awards are part of the Global Excellence Model family and have been running for 20 years. They are open to companies and organisations across all industries and sizes.

RSL Care has been using the business excellence framework for four years now and the organisation’s CEO, Ross Smith said it was a great honour to be recognised as a business leader.

“It not only gives our residents, clients, their families and our staff a huge sense of pride but is great for our industry which is challenging, complex and frequently scrutinized,” he said.

“To win at this level is a wonderful achievement, particularly when you consider how big our geographical spread is – stretching from Cairns and Longreach right down to the far south of Sydney.”

The bronze medal is awarded to organisations that have reached significant milestones in the application of the principles and philosophy of the business excellence framework.

SAI Global CEO, Tony Scotton praised RSL Care for its commitment to high standards of service.

“It goes to exhaustive lengths in strategic planning and research to pursue those ideals to benefit an ageing population,” he said.

He also congratulated the organisation for sharing its education programs with the industry.

Mr Smith said the organisation will continue to strive for improvement.

“Our journey of excellence continues. As far as we are concerned, it’s just the beginning,” he said.

Applications for the 2009 awards are open from November this year.
