Nurse practitioner Peter Jenkin wins top award
Palliative care specialist Peter Jenkin wins HESTA Nurse Practitioner of the Year award.
Resthaven nurse practitioner Peter Jenkin was named HESTA Nurse Practitioner of the Year at the 2022 Australian College of Nurse Practitioners National Conference in Sydney.
The award recognises a nurse practitioner who has demonstrated outstanding qualities in the areas of clinical work, mentoring and leadership.
“We are so proud of Peter – he is a thoroughly worthy recipient of this award,” said Resthaven executive manager, residential and retirement living, Tina Cooper.
Mr Jenkin plays a key role in the provision of specialist palliative care nursing services to clients in both residential and community settings.
“Peter has demonstrated ongoing commitment to embedding palliative care in Resthaven’s clinical structure,” said Ms Cooper. “Feedback from Resthaven residents, clients and family is overwhelmingly positive with families stating that they felt supported and informed about palliative care once Peter became involved in their individual circumstance.”
Since joining the South Australian not-for-profit aged care provider in 2011, Mr Jenkin has also worked with the senior clinical team in establishing new processes and best practice.
“This award win is a testament to Peter’s outstanding efforts on behalf of the Resthaven community,” said Ms Cooper.
Mr Jenkin has previously been recognised with the 2013 Innovation Award in the Palliative Care Awards from the SA Palliative Care Council, and the 2017 Aged and Community Services SA and NT Awards for Excellence Employee Award.
