Bethanie commences construction of village cottages
West Australian aged care and retirement living provider Bethanie has begun construction of a 34-cottage development at Bethanie Esprit retirement village in Eaton.
Bethanie CEO Chris How and Beryl Cooper, who has bought one of the new cottages, kicked off construction of Bethanie Esprit Cottages by turning the first sod at an event attended by Bethanie staff and residents and local councillor Michael Bennett.
Each cottage includes two bedrooms, a full-sized kitchen, courtyard and a rear entry double garage.
Bethanie Esprit is an established pet-friendly village with a clubhouse, gym, heated swimming pool, bowling green, mini golf, hair salon, library and bar.
Mr How said Bethanie was “excited to begin construction on time with this brand-new development, which has only been possible due to the great response from the public that has exceeded all our expectations.”
Stage one cottages will be move-in ready by April 2020 with the entire development due to be completed by August 2022.
RSL LifeCare unveils Port Macquarie facility
New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory aged care and retirement living provider RSL LifeCare has unveiled Arthur Blackburn VC Gardens, a new aged care facility in Port Macquarie.
The 80-bed development is co-located with RSL LifeCare’s Pozieres Village and features multiple dining rooms, shared living areas, spacious terraces and gardens, open-air internal garden courtyard and a hairdresser.
The building has a two-level glass and steel structural frame and opens onto a pool area and bowling green.
The design of the facility, which was undertaken by interior designers McNally Architects, was inspired by the coastal hues of Port Macquarie.
“Our vision for the interiors was to create a safe and warm environment,” said McNally Architects interior design director Caroline McNally.
Odyssey Health Group announces builder of $81 million development
Queensland aged care provider Odyssey Health Group has announced Hutchinson Builders will construct the first stage of its $81 million aged care facility in Robina on the Gold Coast.
The first stage of construction includes 99 apartments ranging in size from 70-95 square metres across two high-rise buildings. The facility will offer a resort-style living including a concierge service, on site chef to prepare meals and sky gardens and 24-hour care.
The facility, which will include three buildings when complete, will be pet-friendly, allow for overnight stays by family members and include a separate childcare centre for staff and community members.
“Through our relationship with Hutchinson Builders, we’re offering special flexibility for residents who get in early by helping them personalise their residence of choice,” said Odyssey Health Group founder and CEO Phil Usher.
The first residents are expected to move in by mid-2020.
IRT Group consulting on Towradgi Park upgrade
New South Wales aged care and retirement living provider IRT Group has announced it is exploring redevelopment plans for its Towradgi Park retirement village in northern Illawarra.
IRT Group CEO Patrick Reid said the organisation was seeking feedback on the future of the village, which was built early in IRT’s 50-year history.
“We are currently exploring options for the future of the site and are seeking stakeholder involvement in a collaborative design process for the development of a new retirement village,” Mr Reid said.
Mr Reid said the organisation wants to talk with as many people in the local community as possible and conduct co-design workshops with stakeholders to get their input on design elements.
IRT Group is planning to submit a development application to Wollongong City Council in early 2020. Information for anyone interested in contributing to the design process is available here.
