Carinity turns sod on Brisbane development
Carinity has begun construction on a $25 million residential aged care facility at its existing site in the Brisbane suburb of Brookfield.
This is the first stage of Brookfield Green, a $65 million five-year plan to replace some existing aged care and retirement buildings with a 96-bedroom residential aged care building, community pavilion and 102 terraced retirement villas.
All rooms include an ensuite, advanced nurse call system and Wi-Fi internet access. The aged care building includes a café, activities areas, dining rooms and commercial kitchen and laundry.
Carinity CEO Jon Campbell said the design featured bright, open-plan public spaces to create the feeling of being in a stylish contemporary hotel.
Paynter Dixon Queensland is managing the project, which will be completed in early 2018.
Twilight opens upgraded facility
Twilight Aged Care opened its upgraded facility in northern Sydney with a celebration last weekend attended by Minister for Aged Care Ken Wyatt and visitors from the local community.
Horton House at Gordon, which was originally opened in 1979 as a female-only residence, underwent a $16 million redevelopment.
It features a range of accommodation options in a home-like environment, the latest in aged care safety technology including Elsi fall detection sensor flooring and energy efficient and eco-friendly construction.
Churches of Christ plans to create integrated seniors community
Churches of Christ in Queensland has announced plans to build a new aged care service, expand the retirement village and add a lake as part of a $38 million investment in a seniors living community at its Fassifern property.
The provider is submitting a development application this month for its Churches of Christ Campus Boonah to create new activity spaces, a multi-purpose community hub, café, seniors care accommodation and home care and support services.
The first stage features an aged care facility in a series of themed cottage-style one and two storey buildings. After the new 96-suite building is complete, the existing residential aged care building will be demolished and the area landscaped.
A new lake will be created by shifting an existing overflow dam to the lower end of the property.
The initial stage also includes an 38 additional retirement living units designed to complement those in the existing Fassifern Retirement Village and will bring the total number of retirement living units 85.
Rosewood ready for new facility
Construction is near completion on Rosewood’s $36 million 120-bed aged care facility in Leederville, which will accommodate residents from its facility in west Perth.
The two-storey property features 120 single rooms for residents, data connections and NBN broadband.
The facility features a self-serve café for residents and visitors, a wellness centre with allied health services, a medical room for doctors and overnight accommodation available for relatives.
Construction is due to be completed in mid-July and open in August, when 52 residents will move in from the provider’s West Perth facility, which will close while negotiations continue about a redevelopment on the site.
