Encore opens Cairns facility

Encore Care Group’s new 144-bed residential aged care facility in Cairns

Encore Care Group has opened a 144-bed state-of-the-art and environmentally-friendly residential aged care facility in Cairns this week.

Caravonica Waters, views of the surrounding hinterland, offers luxury accommodation and specialist residential, respite and dementia care services.

The facility will provide employment to more than 100 full time, part time and casual staff.

Encore Care Group CEO Bret Duckers said they were excited about the level of care and employment opportunities that Caravonica Waters would provide the community.

“Our core belief is that if we ensure our employees work in a supportive, positive and highly collaborative environment, this will translate to a higher quality of care for our residents.”

Encore plans to open two more aged care facilities in the Cairns area within the next two years, after which they will provide a total of 470 beds in the area.

Benetas has opened a $10-million outdoor leisure hub and new entrance at the Dalkeith Heights Independent Living community in Traralgon, Victoria.

The Village Green hub offers residents access to a competition-size lawn bowls green, putting green, bocce area and exercise equipment.

It also includes a vegetable patch and mini-orchard for residents to tend and a large pergola and modern barbeque area.

The opening of Grace Avenue, the main entrance and thoroughfare to Dalkeith Heights, aims to improve navigation and site access and strengthen street presence in the area.

The Village Green and Grace Avenue are part of stage two of works at the site, which previously saw the completion of 20 new units and civil works.

The site consists of 112 units, an on-site cafe, gymnasium and indoor pool. A further nine units will be completed in the coming months, said Chris Karagiannis, Benetas General manager strategy, infrastructure and housing.

Greengate celebrates new Brisbane village

Arnold and Philomena Van Brunschot were among the first couples to move into the new village

Greengate has officially opened aged care and retirement living community St Luke’s Green, which surrounds the restored St Luke’s Church in the Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba.

It is Greengate’s first operational village in Brisbane and includes 61 apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom penthouses with in-home care options collocated with a 60-suite aged care home with 24-hour nursing care.

The contemporarily designed village is located in a suburban street with easy access to transport and services.

Greengate CEO Chris Rigby said: “As people age, we believe that it is important they stay within the community they already know and love, close to family and friends.”

Village residents Philomena and Arnold Van Brunschot were among the first couples to move into the village after the village was completed in April.

“We are still in the area where our family is, so we can babysit the grandkids; we enjoy that they’re a part of our new community,” Mrs Van Brunschot said.
