Kathryn Greiner appointed as retirement village ambassador

The NSW Government has appointed politician and social advocate Kathryn Greiner as its first Retirement Village Ambassador.

In her new role, Ms Greiner will speak and advocate for retirement village residents across the state.

In 2017, Ms Greiner led the inquiry into the NSW retirement village sector and made several recommendations towards improving retirement living.

Ms Greiner said she was excited to take on her new role.

“There have been many problems in the retirement village sector over many years, and it’s great to be part of the solution,” Ms Greiner said.

“I’m looking forward to meeting again with residents, sharing the changes made in the Retirement Villages Act, and discussing with them how the new reforms will help them,” she said.

Benetas announces a new chair

Victorian residential and home aged care provider Benetas has announced the appointment of Michael Urwin as chairman of its board of directors.

Mr Urwin has over 20 years experience in leadership roles and at educational institutions, including as Brighton Grammar’s principal. Mr Urwin has also served as a member of Benetas’ board since September 2016.

Benetas CEO Sandra Hills said Mr Urwin’s appointment would bring significant value to the organisation.

“We are looking forward to benefitting from his extensive experience in governance and business acumen,” Ms Hills said.

Mr Urwin will replace David Percival, who has served on the Benetas for 9 years including most recently as chairman for the past year.

Australian Digital Health Agency appoints chief digital officer

The Australian Digital Health Agency has appointed Steven Issa as the new chief digital officer.

Mr Issa has experience in senior technology and customer service in both the public and private sectors and has spent most of his career in technology and management consulting.

He has also been a lecturer in technology at the University of Sydney and most recently worked as a senior executive at Service NSW, which involved overseeing digital customer service channels and managing face-to-face service centres.

Mr Issa will commence in his new role on 14 January 2019.
