SCCV to build 90-bed facility in North Williamstown

Southern Cross Care Vic has finalised a deal with the Victorian Government to build a $22 million, 90-bed aged care facility in North Williamstown, south-west of Melbourne.

Similar to several of SCCV’s other facilities, a key feature of the new development would be a series of houses within the facility, each accommodating up to 15 residents and featuring its own kitchen, dining and lounge area to create a home-like environment for residents, said CEO Jan Horsnell.

Other notable features would include a chapel and space for multi-faith worship to cater for all religions.

The design process for the Williamstown home, which is due for complete lion in 2018, would shortly commence and take in feedback from the community, she said.

Bethanie signs contract for Gwelup development

Major Western Australian provider Bethanie last week signed a design and construction contract for a new development comprised of a 112-bed residential care facility, 62 luxury one and two- bedroom apartments and a church.

Bethanie CEO Chris How said the organisation had been working on the design of Bethanie Gwelup for many years.

The development’s design was based on a global review of the best facilities, as well as feedback from its consumers to ensure the project would meet current and future preferences, he said.

Work was due to commence on site this week with completion of the aged-care facility and apartments expected in early 2017.
