Arcare opens $60 million Malvern East facility

Arcare Parkview Malvern East opened this week

Arcare this week opened its Parkview Malvern East facility, providing 64 residential suites and, in a first for the provider, the new centre includes a palliative care room for use by residents’ families.

The opening marks the 17th Victorian site for the company, which now has almost 30 aged care residences and 2,765 beds throughout Queensland, Victoria and NSW.

The Parkview residence is the second in East Malvern, and will be joined by Arcare Nirvana Avenue in mid-2017.

The $60 million aged care facility provides a wellness centre that includes spa treatments, café, hair salon, movie theatre and a private dining room in which residents can entertain family and friends.

Arcare Parkview Malvern East will employ more than 100 staff. The business also operates a home care division for those wishing to remain living in their local community, and provides transport, domestic, social and disability support services, as well as home care packages.

Onsite facilities include communal spaces, a beauty and hairdressing salon, theatre room, library and business centre, and a skybar — a place where residents can watch the sunset over the water while enjoying a cocktail.

The service is also within walking distance of restaurants and boutiques along Duporth Avenue, the Sunshine Coast’s shopping hub Sunshine Plaza, the Maroochy RSL, Maroochydore Rotary Park, and the Maroochy River.

The new 160-bed facility will also have a wing of eight beds designed for younger residents, aged 60 or younger, to meet their lifestyle and care needs.

From the facility Hall & Prior will also provide home community care to 150 residents in the surrounding area.

The facility is slated to open in late 2019.

Victorian provider Benetas is building a new aged care facility in Heidelberg after receiving approval from Banyule Council for a 103-bed aged care centre.

The new building, to be constructed by ADCO Construction (Victoria), will deliver Benetas’ group model whereby ensuite bedrooms are grouped in clusters of eight around an apartment that includes its own kitchen, lounge and living areas.

A hairdresser, café, wellness areas, private dining and outdoor terraces will also be included in the new centre, which will offer extensive views over the Dandenong ranges.

Construction will begin this month and likely be completed by mid-2018.
