Presbyterian Aged Care Paddington reaches construction milestone
Presbyterian Aged Care’s $180-million over 55s development, The Terraces at Paddington in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, reached a construction milestone with Multiplex recently topping out construction at level 8 of the new build.
The development replaces the provider’s existing 88-bed aged care facility with a new 100-bed centre that includes a 23-bed dementia unit and a new 70-unit retirement village across four buildings.
The project involves the conversion of the Scottish Hospital heritage building into nine seniors’ apartments with heritage features.
Completion of the project is expected by early 2019.
Bethanie opens co-located aged and retirement living facility
West Australian not-for-profit provider Bethanie has opened the doors of a new 112-bed two-storey aged care facility co-located with 62 new retirement living apartments in the Perth suburb of Gwelup.
The aged care facility features large activity rooms, formal and informal dining areas and self-contained kitchenettes to encourage family members to visit and spend time in a home-like environment.
The independent living units were designed to allow a continuum of care and alternative options for couples requiring varying levels of care while shared amenities at the site include a wellness centre, hair salon and crafts room.
Resthaven and Eureka Villages partner in SA
Not-for-profit aged care provider Resthaven and publicly listed Eureka Group Holdings have partnered to give Eureka Retirement Village residents in SA access to Resthaven’s aged care services.
Resthaven CEO Richard Hearn said the partnership was a first for Resthaven.
“Eureka Village residents will have access to a wide range of Resthaven services including in-home care, therapies to enhance their health and wellbeing, social support and respite for carers,” Mr Hearn said.
Eureka has 35 villages Australia wide.
Uniting redevelopment in Normahurst gets underway
Uniting has commenced construction on 137 new independent living units in Normanhurst, Sydney, co-located with its existing 106-bed residential aged care facility.
The Uniting Bowden Brae Normanhurst expansion also features new communal indoor and outdoor spaces, a wellness centre, café, hair and beauty salon, and swimming pool.
The provider has also recently received approval for the second stage $20 million redevelopment of the Uniting Mayflower aged care facility in Gerringong.
The project will include accommodation and communal spaces based on a household model of care, where residents live in smaller groups in and each household has its own kitchen, dining and lounge areas.
Other features will include landscaped gardens, an on-site café, chapel, a community and wellness centre, and a range of adaptable activity areas.
