Regis CEO to step down

Publicly-owned residential aged, home care and retirement living provider Regis Healthcare has announced managing director and chief executive officer Ross Johnston is stepping down after 11 years of service.

Mr Johnston joined Regis when it was a privately-owned for-profit company and has led the business through its transition to becoming a listed provider.

He led the provider’s expansion in operational aged care places from 4,719 when he took over to 7,142 places across Australia today.

Regis’ chairman Graham Hodges thanked Mr Johnston for his leadership.

“Ross has ensured Regis delivers a high standard of residential care through a dedicated and experienced team and quality facility environments,”

Mr Johnston will continue to lead the organisation until 3 September. The organisation said the search for a new CEO is underway.

Property Council of Australia appoints president

The Property Council of Australia has announced the appointment of Mary-Louise MacDonald as retirement living council president.

Ms MacDonald, who joined the sector as a registered nurse, is chief executive officer of aged care and retirement living provider Masonic Care WA.

She has 35 years of executive management experience across the aged care, retirement, industrial relations, health care and government policy development sectors.

Ms MacDonald said she was excited to take on her new role.

“The role of retirement living in providing accommodation, services and support for our growing population of older Australians is increasingly important as medical and technological advances have given us all greater expectations of our life expectancy,” Ms MacDonald said.
