PAC NSW announces closure, sales
New South Wales and ACT aged care provider Presbyterian Aged Care has announced it is closing one aged care among two facilities now for sale.
The Presbyterian Church in New South Wales has announced it is closing one aged care home, selling another intact and reducing operating and overhead costs at head office to ensure the organisation’s long-term financial viability.
The church, which governs Presbyterian Aged Care in NSW and the ACT, has announced it will close Presbyterian Aged Care East Gosford on the NSW Central Coast and sell the property.
PAC East Gosford includes a small 39-bed low-care aged care home and 38 independent living units.
The organisation is selling PAC Stockton also known as Wescott, a recently renovated 120-bed aged care facility in Stockton near Newcastle, to hopefully another provider.
Presbyterian Church of Australia in NSW general manager Jeof Falls said the orgainsation was committed to working with residents, their families and staff to make the transition as smooth as possible.
“We wish to emphasise that the decision is not due to, and does not reflect in any way on, the quality of services provided to residents,” Mr Falls said.
PAC East Gosford cannot compete with other providers in the area without increasing the size of the rooms or expanding into high care, neither of which are possible, he said.
“We will assist residents and staff to find alternate placements as the facility winds down for sale,” Mr Falls said.
PAC Stockton is “likely to be very attractive to another provider” due to its recent renovation, he said.
“We would hope for a seamless transition to the new provider with continuity for residents and staff.”
He said the organisaiton hoped to sell the two facilities over the next six months to allow time for residents, their families and staff to adjust and relocate with support if required or desired.
Mr Falls also thanked staff at these homes for their commitment and service.
