Uniting resident celebrates 104th birthday

A resident from Uniting Roberts Lodge in Peakhurst in New South Wales has celebrated her 104th birthday.

A resident from Uniting Roberts Lodge in Peakhurst in New South Wales has celebrated her 104th birthday.

Resident Marguerite Winkley was born in Kolkata in India in 1916 and has eight siblings.

Ms Winkley said hard work and her job as a midwife kept her going.

“I remember riding my bicycle to patients in the blackouts during the war,” Ms Winkely said.

Ms Winkley and her husband emigrated to Australia after the war and settled in Sydney.

Ms Winkley celebrated her 104th birthday with her friends at Roberts Lodge with balloons and chocolate cake.

She enjoys painting, music, playing scrabble with other residents, attends social activities and is part of Roberts Lodge’s House Band.

  1. It’s wonderful to see my Aunty Marguerite here well.

    Her cousin Lusig (Lou) was my grandfather affectionally known as Opa.

    Both Lou and Marguerite were exceptionally close during his lifetime.

    He also settled in Sydney after the war and he past away in 2004 at 88 years.

    There was only six months age difference between Marguerite and Lou.

    This is wonderful to see.
