The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is seeking feedback on proposed registration fees coming into effect following changes to regulatory activities under the new Aged Care Act.

The commission currently charges fees to assess applications for new aged care providers and for accrediting and auditing residential aged care services.

To support the government it has suggested activities and fees that might be charged for under the new Act.

The Cost Recovery Consultation Paper includes proposed fees for:

  • new provider registration
  • renewal of registration
  • variations to registration
  • audits related to registration.

The complete paper can be read here and explains how fees were calculated and the fee waiver eligibility criteria.

After the outcomes of consultation have been considered, the paper will be amended and become the commission’s Cost Recovery Implementation Statement.

The proposed arrangements will apply to prospective and current providers from 1 July.

Consultation closes on 1 April and can be completed here.
