Regional facility receives $1 million upgrade
The refurb was funded by a $20 million Victorian state government package to improve public sector aged care services.
A government-funded aged care home in the central Victorian town of Maryborough has been given a $1.2 million face lift.
Unveiled by local federal Member of Parliament Martha Haylett last week, the refurbishment of Wattle Rise includes an expanded dining room, new visitor spaces and 20 private ensuites replacing 10 shared bathrooms.
“We are supporting our local aged care residents with the delivery of a safer and more dignified place to call home – these upgrades mean they can continue to receive the best care possible, right on their doorstep,” said Ms Haylett.
“Comfort and privacy are fundamental to residential aged care, but equally important to the locals in Maryborough’s Wattle Rise aged care facility is the continued connection to their community, where many have spent their whole life.”
The refurbishment of Wattle Rise was made possible through a $20 million state government package to improve public sector residential aged care services across Victoria. The facility is one of 33 projects to receive funding for upgrades.
“It is important we take care of our older Victorians by helping them age with dignity, compassion and comfort,” said the Victorian Government Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt. “Facilities like this in Maryborough will mean higher-quality public aged care closer to home.”
