Planning for older people’s housing and care needs

The intersection between housing and aged care will be explored in an upcoming webinar hosted by the Australian Association of Gerontology next week.

Professor Julie Byles from the Research Centre for Generational Health and Ageing, and Barbara Squires, consultant and former aged care executive, will address the online symposium.

Professor Byles will present data from the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health and discuss the need for more housing options for older people to support ageing in place.

The experts will also consider the development of a housing strategy that addresses the accommodation and aged care needs of older people and the implications for policy.

The University of Adelaide’s Dr Victoria Cornell, who is currently conducting research on the impact of aged care reforms on older renters, will facilitate the discussion.

The webinar will take place 13 July 12:00-1:00pm AEST.
