The Department of Health has produced a resource pack with fact sheets, posters and social media support to help aged care providers navigate the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

The COVID-19 vaccine aged care stakeholder kit provides a series of fact sheets and information to share with aged care staff and other facility workers and residents and their families.

The fact sheet for workers, health professionals and other workers in residential aged care facilities includes information on:

  • Australia’s COVID-19 vaccine strategy
  • vaccine safety and effectiveness
  • how the vaccine will be distributed to aged care facilities
  • how to arrange vaccinations and obtain consent
  • likely side effects from the vaccine.

The fact sheet for aged care residents, their families, representatives and carers provides information on vaccinating for frail elderly people over 85 years of age and how the vaccine will be administered to residents.

The kit also includes a poster to put up in residential aged care facilities, five pages of frequently asked questions and a suite of images providers can use on social media to support the vaccination program.
