Sanctioned home returns to full compliance

A Melbourne facility that was sanctioned in March met all 44 of the agency’s 44 expected outcomes in a recent audit.

A facility in outer Melbourne has returned to full accreditation after being sanctioned for non-compliance in March last year.

Werribee Terrace Aged Care has demonstrated compliance in three separate accreditation audits since the sanctions were applied 12 months ago.

The home took immediate action when it was sanctioned, appointing a new Director of Nursing and a nurse advisor approved by the Department of Health and Ageing.

All staff members at the facility have undertaken compulsory training and the facility has improved its communication with residents and their relatives.

Werribee Terrace has also introduced a new system for monitoring and responding to feedback.

“We are delighted to have now regained full accreditation, as the comfort and welfare of our residents is of the utmost importance,” said the Werribee Terrace’s CEO, David Gibson.

“Through our immediate and necessary actions and systematised preventative measures, we can assure our residents and their families that these issues will never arise again.”

Werribee Terrace has been caring for residents with high care needs for 16 years and a statement from the home said it had an “excellent reputation” within the local community.

The facility will continue to be subject to unannounced inspections by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency.
