St Vincent’s Care Services acquires three PresCare homes

St Vincent’s Care Services has acquired three PresCare homes, expanding its residential aged care portfolio to 23 homes.

Aged care provider St Vincent’s Care Services has announced it will acquire three PresCare facilities in Queensland.

The acquisition includes Protea by PresCare in Douglas, Vela in Carina and the non-operational WR Black facility in Cordina.

The three homes collectively have 390 residential aged care beds, including 76 beds in dedicated special dementia care units, and 300 employees.

The WR Black facility will additionally have five rooms available to older people who are experiencing or have a history of homelessness.

The new additions bring St Vincent’s Care Services portfolio to 23 aged care facilities and nine retirement villages in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

St Vincent’s Care Services CEO Lincoln Hopper said the acquisitions were an exciting milestone for the organisation.

“St Vincent’s Care Services recognises the significant contribution that PresCare has made as a not-for-profit care provider to vulnerable older Australians for many years and we intend to continue building on that legacy,” Mr Hopper said.

“We are aligned in our approach to providing exceptional services for Australians and are grateful for the opportunity to continue to provide quality care to the residents of these facilities,” Mr Hopper said.

The acquisition follows PresCare’s announcement in August last year that it would exit the residential aged care sector and sell its seven aged care facilities.

Nine months later, the Presbyterian Church of Queensland was placed into receivership because it was unable to pay its debts.

Fellow aged care provider Apollo Care acquired PresCare’s Alexandra Gardens in Rockhampton, and Groundwater Lodge and Yaralla Place in Maryborough earlier this year.
