The development of a medical precinct is underway in Brisbane to provide aged care residents and broader community in Logan access to medical and health services.

The Southwest Medical Precinct owned by Horwell Property Investments will be a multi-level facility comprising over 2,000 square metres of mixed retail, medical and office space.

The precinct will provide essential services including specialists for nearby residential aged care facilities and assist with overflow from the Logan Hospital 200 metres away.

The University of Queensland’s primary care, clinical innovation and research organisation UQ Health Care will be onsite to provide an extensive range of health services including treatment for acute illness, preventive health services, health assessments and chronic disease prevention and management.

The precinct, which has been designed by Cottee Parker Architects, includes free parking to ensure it is accessible and convenient.

Horwell Group director Benjamin Horwell said the precinct would become a bustling centre for a broad range of health, wellness and other related products and services.

“Imagine the functionality and convenience for families and workers who will be able to access important health and wellness services locally and shop for lifestyle and grocery needs in one complex,” Mr Horwell said.

The precinct is expected to open late next year.
