Swanwick takes up new banking role
The former Adelaide Bank financier has taken on the health and community services role at a new bank.
Ken Swanwick has moved to St.George bank.
Well known industry banker Ken Swanwick has joined St. George to manage its health and community services segment in Queensland.
Mr Swanwick has been a specialist aged care and retirement living financier for nine years, having previously worked for Adelaide Bank.
He has worked in the financial services sector for over 40 years and is a member of Aged Care Queensland and the Retirement Village Association.
In his new role Mr Swanwick will manage the bank’s relationship with a range of aged care and retirement living clients.
“St George is a large bank in NSW because that’s where it started but in Queensland, its representation is smaller and people don’t really think of St George when they are considering business banking,” Mr Swanwick said. “My aim is to raise the profile of the bank in the health and community services space.
“I have got a very high profile in the retirement living and aged care sectors and I have already been knocking on a lot of doors.
“I’ve had a terrific reception and everyone has welcomed me back because I have been around for so long.”
Mr Swanwick is also a director of private retirement village operator, Live Life Villages.
“When I have my director’s hat on, I am looking at the business through the eyes of an operator,” he said.
“I see the problems and discuss the strategies for fixing those problems and it helps me to do my job as a financier all the more effectively – it gives me another level of experience.”
St.George’s head of corporate banking, Ian Sanders, said he welcomed Mr Swanwick’s industry experience.
“St.George has identified health and community services as one of five industry segments where we intend to expand our business and the retirement living and residential aged care sector is a significant part of this segment,” he said.
“[Mr Swanwick’s] appointment to this new role as a long-term industry partner demonstrates St.George’s commitment to supporting new and existing clients in the industry.”
