Aged care technology start-up Brenna has announced its first integration – with aged care and retirement living software eCase.

Brenna is a mobile app that streamlines communications about a resident’s condition between nurses and multiple family members at once. The digital update tool was co-designed over 10 months with nursing staff at Tulich Family Communities and began rolling out across the New South Wales’ homes in August 2022.

Jeannie-Marie Noyce

Founder Jeannie-Marie Noyce said Brenna had successfully completed an integration with Health Metrics’ software platform eCase.

“It creates a seamless user experience for staff that saves time and further improves data integrity,” Ms Noyce told Australian Ageing Agenda.

Health Metrics chief product officer Nina Combe said the integration was part of the vendor’s commitment to ensure the eCase platform enabled users to easily take advantage of complementary third-party software products via API.

“Aged Care providers can now extend their technology eco-system to include Brenna’s family-communication app with all resident data managed and maintained securely within eCase as the single source of truth,” Ms Combe told AAA.

“Improving communication across the care journey between staff, family members and residents is key to a positive care experience for all stakeholders and we’re very pleased to work with Brenna to help aged care providers achieve this.”

Ms Noyce said integrating with eCase marked the start of Brenna’s integration focus. “Aged care providers have told us how important interoperability of systems is for them and we are listening,” she said. “Integration means that staff can enter information once, and that information is transferred across to Brenna via the automated sync between the systems.”

Brenna will integrate with three different kinds of systems – clinical management, risk management and medication management. “That’s the three key areas where it will be time saving to have the systems talk to one another – to pull information through to Brenna and to be able to push information across to those systems,” Ms Noyce said.

Integration with clinical management software, for example, improves the onboarding process because the information easily flows from one system to the other, she said.

“Onboarding of all data for a new home from eCase into Brenna occurs within minutes. It’s like magic. And then when a new resident is admitted or new family member contact information is added to eCase, that information automatically flows through to Brenna making it easy to keep the system updated.”
