The peak body representing Australian physiotherapists has urged the government to improve the choice and scope of physiotherapy services for aged care residents.
Aged care providers need to “make noise” about the “perverse incentives” within the Aged Care Funding Instrument that prevent more residents from availing of a reablement approach in residential care, a leading expert has said.
The peak body for physiotherapists is calling on the Federal Government to fund contemporary pain management therapies in residential aged care, including exercise, and overhaul the funding instrument to support restorative care practices.
