Regulator relaunches digital guidance tool
The quality and safety commission has revitalised an online tool in the hopes it can assist providers prepare for the upcoming sector-wide changes on 1 July.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has refreshed a digital tool they developed for providers looking for tailored guidance on the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
With the tool, providers can find information to support their understanding of the strengthened quality standards and how to apply them in practice.
First, providers choose the service category, the roles and whether clinical care applies to their services.
Information will then be grouped into the strengthened standards and the outcomes that apply, outlining:
- expectations of older people
- intent of strengthened standards
- outcome that needs to be achieved
- why the outcome is important
- actions you can take to achieve the outcome
- examples of key tasks you can do to achieve the outcome.
The strengthened standards and audit process will not apply to providers registered in proposed registration categories 1, 2 and 3 – they will instead be subject to other regulatory obligations under the new Aged Care Act.
The online guidance tool can be accessed here.
