Leading WA in-home health and care provider, Silver Chain, has established a new commercially sustainable ‘social enterprise’ business for EOS Technologies, the commercialisation vehicle for the organisation’s client management IT application, ComCare.
The new social enterprise business has been created as part of a growth phase which the organisation says is essential to enable it to have a long-lasting impact on the industry. Former Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Silver Chain, Allan Turner, has been appointed CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the new business entity.
Created in September 2010 by the Silver Chain Group board, EOS Technologies has been the arm of the organisation responsible for managing and marketing ComCare, a client and resource management system designed and developed over 25 years to increase productivity and improve service delivery for health, aged and community care organisations.
As a social enterprise business, EOS Technologies will apply market-based strategies to generate a profit in order to achieve a social purpose, which is “to enhance the productivity of aged and community care organisations in Australia through technology.”
Silver Chain CEO, Chris McGowan, said the organisation was delighted that Allan Turner had accepted the position of CEO of EOS.
“EOS is an important and exciting venture for the Silver Chain Group and aligns with [our] strategic objective of building community capacity through innovative use and development of ComCare.
“Allan’s complete focus will be on developing and growing EOS’ capability and value to our clients and the industry,” said Mr McGowan.
“Allan has a passion and vision for ComCare that has stretched over many years. We welcome his leadership and in-depth industry knowledge in guiding EOS during this exciting growth phase.
“Allan will also manage EOS Development to ensure the strong enhancement of ComCare in line with customer and industry requirements,” Mr McGowan said.
Mr McGowan said that Greg Russell, who has held the CEO position during the establishment phase, had provided enormous value in this period and will work with Allan Turner over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.
“From everyone at EOS and all our clients, we wish Greg the very best and look forward to working with Greg next year in a consulting capacity,” he said.
Silver Chain Group has also appointed a new CIO, Lee Davis (pictured above), who will take over from Allan Turner.
EOS will be established as a separate business unit within the Silver Chain Group with its own separate Board Committee.
