Technology provider Swift has launched its new compact, Google-certified device Swift TV, with the final design being shortlisted for a Future of Ageing Award in the Consumer Technology and Business Technology categories.

Designed to improve engagement, communication and entertainment options for aged care residents, Swift TV combines Swift’s proprietary technology platform and a user-friendly interface that provides residents with direct access to popular streaming apps.

There is also a Swift Entertainment+ optional add-on which providers can offer as premium entertainment if residents want more choice and flexibility.

The Swift TV does not provide users with subscriptions to streaming platforms, rather simplifies access to existing ones as there is no need to switch inputs or connect extra hardware.

There is also a backlit remote and voice search functionality for additional accessibility.

The new platform was co-designed with aged care providers, academics and consultants and the research was led by Dr Kathy Heathcote, who focused on creating features that support providers to deliver outcomes aligned with the new Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, including:

  • reducing isolation
  • fostering a sense of community
  • improving operational efficiency.

It also supports providers with streamlined communication and administrative tools and gives support with the Higher Everyday Living Fee, among other changes accompanying the new Aged Care Act, while remaining simple and intuitive to use for residents.

Brian Mangano

Swift chief executive officer Brian Mangano said Swift TV enhances operational efficiency while providing greater choice, accessibility and connection for residents.

“The strong early uptake during the pre-order period for 2026 installations shows our partnership with key industry stakeholders has delivered a solution that meets the sector’s needs – improving the resident experience, streamlining operations, and supporting compliance with new regulations.”

  1. This is such an impressive innovation! I love how Swift TV focuses on improving connectivity and engagement for aged care residents, not just entertainment. Features like voice search, a backlit remote, and easy streaming access really show attention to accessibility and user experience. It’s also inspiring that the device was co-designed with providers and researchers to enhance social connection and reduce isolation. Technology like this can truly make a difference in residents’ daily lives, helping them feel more connected and empowered.
