Work to develop sector IT roadmap underway
A team from Flinders University has been appointed to undertake the scoping study for a national technology roadmap for the aged care sector.
A team from Flinders University has been appointed to undertake the scoping study for a national technology roadmap for the aged care sector.
As Australian Ageing Agenda previously reported, the Aged Care Industry IT Company (ACiiTC) project will complement the work of the Aged Care Sector Roadmap released earlier this year to reflect the technological requirements needed to deliver its nine point plan for the development of a sustainable aged care industry.
“Specifically this project will investigate the technological requirements needed to position the aged care industry to transform its business operations and be sustainable into the future,” said ACIitC spokesperson Anne Livingstone.
“It is widely recognised that there is a need to define the technical requirements across all activities and that technical innovations are key enablers to ensure sustainability, effectiveness, efficiency and quality.”
The team from Flinders University Medical Device Research Institute is headed by its director Professor Karen Reynolds.
Strategic advisors to the project include Professor Sue Gordon, chair of restorative care, Professor of Digital Health Systems Anthony Maeder, Dr Kate Barnett, senior research fellow (Ageing and Aged Care), and David Hobbs lecturer and rehabilitation engineer.
A national consultative process is underway.
The technology roadmap is planned to be released in early 2017 with an aim of informing policy.
